Outdoor entertainment center to open in Ontario
By Karen Lohmeyer / Staff WriterThe plan b entertainment center and outdoor entertainment complex will open in downtown Brampton, Ont., the Ontario Government announced Thursday.
The centre is expected to open by the end of 2018.
“This is a big day for Brampton,” said Mayor Linda Jeffrey in a release.
“Our new downtown Bramptons entertainment centre is the most exciting and iconic outdoor entertainment facility in North America.
I want to thank all of our partners for making this the best outdoor entertainment centre in North American history.
This centre will not only bring thousands of visitors to Brampton each year, it will create a positive, connected community in Brampton.”
The entertainment centre will be the third plan b and outdoor centre in Brampton.
It will be operated by a partnership between the City of Brampton and Plan B Entertainment Inc. and is expected be completed by 2021.
The plan c entertainment centre was the largest indoor facility in Bramonton and will be located on the former site of the former Peel Theatre in the area of Highway 401 and Highway 890.
The centre will host concerts, outdoor festivals and more than 20 different outdoor entertainment venues.
It is expected that the centre will draw approximately 50,000 visitors each year.
The City of Mississauga has leased the site from the Mississauga Entertainment Corporation for the purpose of building the outdoor entertainment and recreation complex, and the plan b will be built on the site.
“I am very excited about this project and I want Mississauga residents to know that it is coming and we are committed to it,” Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie said in a statement.
“We are going to have more opportunities for our residents to enjoy outdoor entertainment with the help of the Mississatans entertainment industry, such as the Brampton Plan B, as they work towards the goals set out in our City Plan.”
“We will build an exciting, well-maintained outdoor entertainment hub with the Plan B centre, bringing thousands of people to Mississauga every year,” Mississawans Mayor Karen Laidlaw said in the release.
“The Brampton plan b centre will provide thousands of Mississaugans with exciting, engaging outdoor entertainment experiences.”
