The new Microsoft Surface tablet is a real deal
This is a story of a true story.
In a post titled ‘Microsoft Surface tablet hits the mainstream’, The Verge has reported that the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has been hitting the market as a real device and the company is actually making some real money selling it.
According to a report in the WSJ, the Surface Pro3 “has sold for $799 US (approximately £700), which is $10,000 less than the previous-gen model.”
The report claims that the Surface 3 “is the most expensive Microsoft Surface device to date, making it one of the highest-priced Microsoft devices in history, and the most profitable.
Microsoft says that the tablet is the best selling Surface in history.”
The company claims that Surface revenue “has surpassed that of any Microsoft product ever.”
According to the report, the new Surface tablet has sold for approximately $749 US (roughly £470).
That’s around £250 less than previous-generation Surface Pro models and less than half the price of the previous generation Surface Pro.
However, the company does claim that it has been profitable for the last year and a half.
“Microsoft Surface sales have surpassed that expected for a new Surface device,” the report states.
“It has been earning over $6.4 billion a year.”
Microsoft is also reported to have paid out over $4.5 billion in cash to Microsoft employees over the past 12 months.
The company also claims that it is working on a “new Surface Pro that will compete with Intel’s Xeon Phi chip for server performance.”
It is unclear at this time if the new tablet will be released to the public.
